Himalayan rivers flowing down to the plains provide excellent rafting sites across north India. There are also many inland rivers across India which are good white water spots too, but rafting activities are not very well organised. That doesn't mean one cannot enjoy this sport, it's just that the facilities are fairly limited to many places and not every rafting option is available in India. However, do not be disheartened, as the available opportunities are more than one can explore in a short tour.
Rafting operators provide access and tours to all grades of rafting across north India in the states of Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh. The Zanskar River region deserves a special mention here for being a very well known and very active rafting site. Also note that neighbouring Nepal offers more exciting opportunities.
